Artists are embracing new digitally controlled fabrication tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters and routers to expand their palettes and express themselves in new ways by interacting with objects and the world in surprising and unexpected ways.
Fabricated was a group show featuring work made by artists who make use of new fabrication tools like 3D printers and laser cutters as part of their creative practice. In this show we gain a glimpse into the many layers of activity and processes that an artist works through when moving between analogue and digital spaces. We can see the opportunities these artists have taken to incorporate a high degree of precision when designing and developing work via software tools, but we also see the way that data can be brought in from the real world and manipulated in meaningful and imaginative ways.
